Finally Believing.

Growing up I had no idea what I was going to do. In grade school I wanted to be an Archaeologist and dig up dinosaur bones all over the world. To be in some dusty dessert with my brush and chisel. But over time I realized maybe that wasn’t super realistic. I heard it didn’t make money, and I didn’t know what was important at the time, and figured other people new best.

1st grade trip to the zoo.

In High school I had even less of an idea of what I wanted to do. I dabbled in some film. Skits made in a friends basement with the hopes of becoming YouTube famous one day. Then later a short film with one of my best friends that actually won a scholarship and got a miniscule amount of air time on the local channel. Once again, how does one make a living off of film making, and, how realistic is that really? So, it along with writing became hobbies, and I remained searching.

Epic 11th grade snow day

Now here I am in college.

Still searching for something that seemed “realistic” and doable.

Clueless as ever

College freshman road trip.

But now I have Direction. An Idea. One that I’m running with. Travel, adventure, call it whatever you want to, because I’m not sure what to call it yet. I’m not even one hundred percent sure if it’s realistic, but I know I can do it. And I love it. Plus, it makes my heartstrings warm.

It’s only a whim now, a faint dream with the potential to be something. From what I hear and know, the only way to accomplish a dream is to DO IT. So I’m doing “it”. And I can’t wait to see how it comes to life. Because I have the idea, but those are ever-changing and evolving. But hey that helps make it more exciting and keeps me on my toes.

Sure my fears are as vast and diverse as my dreams are big and crazy, but I welcome them. Fear helps shows you where your barriers may be. It promotes challenge, often pays off the biggest while being the most rewarding, and you get to conquer and go beyond those barriers. Fear can be a good thing, it just takes the right angle and approach.

But what finally ignited the fuse on this whole, inspiration dream bomb was on December 30th when I saw Olan Rogers Eat-A-Slice with me tour Documentary. I’ve been following this goon for ages, and it’s been incredible to watch him follow his dreams, and see things happen and where they went. And all it happened because he wanted it to and believe in it. So a humble thank you to Olan for, well, being him.

Now I’m going to believe and go do me, and see where it goes.

Let’s do this thing.

  1. I wish, when I was your age and had zero idea what I wanted to do for a living, that what was realistic was spending the next 30 years doing something you love, instead of something you hate. Getting up everyday, and living a dream you never had? That kind of realism, no one needs. I hope you keep following yours.

  2. Dat sweater though. I love your blog buddy. Been reading all your posts as they come out. I am super happy for you and this crazy adventure of yours. You seem EXTREMELY happy and to be truly taking your life into your own hands.

    Love you brother man.

  3. Here’s a few of my quotes that may tie in…

“Dream chasing is also a form of entertainment, is it not??”

“Iā€™m not quite sure I know where I want to go but getting there is fun none-the-less!!”
